I realize this video isn’t very serious, but adds some humour to a very serious topic. I thought I would open the article with this, just for a chuckle.
Now let’s move on to the more serious topic….
TODD BENTLEY

Date of Birth: January 10, 1976
Raised: The place that is recorded as the main place Todd Bentley was raised, was in Gibsons, British Columbia. Mr. Bentley is a Canadian, who at the age of 12 experienced the divorce of his parents.
After this, Mr. Bentley lived a life of addictions, and criminal activities. This continued until his "conversion", which after this propelled him into his type of ministry at the age of 18.
Family: Mr. Bentley is married to his wife Shonnah, and has three children: Lauralee, Esther and Elijah.
Current Residence: Mr. Bentley and his family are currently residing in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
If you took the time to view this video. I hope one glaring error came to light. This Mr. Johnson, not once referred back to scriptural proof. Something that we’re taught to do in Scripture. The Berean example is not followed here. Neither is Paul’s instructions to test all things.
Instead supposedly being the man’s friend, and watching him with his family is legitimate grounds for declaring this man (Todd Bentley) a man of God. For anyone who has studied human behaviour even to a small degree knows that this type of defence is extremely weak. It is very common to have serial killers, not hurt their families. The Dusseldorf Vampire (German Serial Killer). Was extremely violent in his actions, yet loved his family. Examples like this could go on forever. The point is to not to compare Bentley to any awful person, but the point is that when judging someone on the truth of God, looking at their lifestyle is absolutely not the way of doing it. There are many cult members out there who are part of the Mormon’s, Jehovah’s Witnesses, False Messiah Followers, who are extremely upright, loving people. Yet are greatly blinded by the errors presented to them. Everything must go back to scripture, yet the Charismatic movement is very much built up on "experience", and emotionalism. Little scriptural study is found.
TODD BENTLEY SUPPORT
A friend from New Brunswick, by the name of Mr. Leger one day while talking to him, summed up followers of false teachers very well. He described followers of Bentley’s teachings as: "they are so desperate for the truth, they don’t know a lie when it ‘kicks’ them in the face". This of course referring to Mr. Bentley’s methods of kicking and punching people, as he performs healings.
If you took the time to watch this image, you would quickly find the complete disregard for the Holiness of God.
The pastor refers to Mr. Bentley’s form of baptism where he referred to God such as: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son and BAM!"
He defends this practice, saying that it is very scriptural. That in fact BAM is the Holy Spirit. He refers to Acts 2 to the reference that people will receive Power, that it’s referring to the Holy Spirit. The translation of power is the root word for Dynamite, and on Disney Movies when Dynamite explodes it goes "BAM!"
Let’s look at the verse:
Act 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
The reference to the Holy Spirit as being power is in Luke 24:49. The context of the chapters though always refer to the ability of man to do things. God has power, and this power will be displayed through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Also scripture is extremely clear in what to say for who is being baptized. If God, the author and giver of all things instructs us to say Holy (Hagios) Spirit (Pneuma) instead of Power ( dunamis); it would be very wise to follow God’s instructions. If one wishes to teach what the power is after the person is saved and filled with the Holy Spirit then they should do so.
It’s also worth to mention that the majority of leading versions of the Bible clearly show that this power follows the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 1.
Many of the followers of Bentley have been completely sucked into his teachings. On his site is the quote below of someone attempting to defend Bentley’s use of BAM!. The not too surprising this is that Bentley posts this extremely bad presentation of exegesis on his site, as almost a trophy note from a follower. Let’s look at it….
BAM
I have heard that many people are stumbling over Todd’s use of the word BAM when he lays hands on people. I happened to tune into the revival on the internet the night Todd explained that the word just came out of him, even though he didn’t have an explanation for the word. I received that in my spirit, and I was so thankful that Papa had me tune in that night to hear that.
Now I know why that happened, and I want to share this information to you, as I believe it is a confirmation, and God is unfolding a mystery so that unbelief will be broken off of us and we will be able to receive ALL that our dear Heavenly Papa has for us!
Yesterday, I found something that you may find rather interesting. I am reading in Hebrews and have been using the Complete Jewish Bible translation by David H. Stern ISBN 965-359-015-4
As I was in Hebrews chapter 1, reading about Jesus, the Son, being the radiance of God’s Divine Presence or "the manifest glory of God".
In this translation, David Stern uses Hebrew terms many times throughout.
Well, I believe the explanation is right here in Hebrews verse 3. In this version, it says: …,he sat down at the right hand of HaG’dulah BaM’romim. The translation is: The Greatness on High. Do you see the BaM in that Hebrew word?????
What Todd Bentley has been asked to do by God is to release the manifest Presence of God into those people he touches.
When I looked up manifest in the dictionary, the first thing it says is: struck by the hand.
Then it goes on to say near at hand, palpable, evident; apparent to the senses especially that of sight or to the mind
Interesting, isn’t it??? — Trudy
Let’s look at Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number 3
Heb 1:3 who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
The part the writer is referring to is "Majesty on High" at the end of the verse. First off, the common language used during the time of the writing of Hebrews, and what the book would have been written in would have been Greek. So if anything wonderful and mystical would come out of it, you would think that the All knowing God would have put it in the translation that people would have read at the time so that His glory would not be hid.
The word Majesty in Greek is: Megalosune (meg-al-o-soo’-nay). Indeed it is very good for the New Testament to be translated for Hebrew readers, but a proper exegesis is in order. We could ofcourse play this game quite well, and go around yelling MEGA! MEGA!, because in the Greek if you see the first four letters is MEGA. But once we start ripping words apart they are not really what they mean anymore. BAM is not the Greatness on High in Hebrew. "HaG’dulah BaM’romim" is.
Also the definition the follower gives for manifest is very interesting. Dictionary.com mentions nowhere that manifest has to do with striking of the hand. The first definition they give is:
Adjective:
readily perceived by the eye or the understanding; evident; obvious; apparent; plain: a manifest error.
Verb:
to make clear or evident to the eye or the understanding; show plainly: He manifested his approval with a hearty laugh.
Noun:
list of the cargo carried by a ship, made for the use of various agents and officials at the ports of destination.
The only way the person can get any type of "hand" out of the translation is to trace the root of the word to it’s origin which is two words put together: "Manifestus" (Manus - Infest)
Manus: The word is used two different ways: In Anatomy it’s used of a limb of the vertebrate. Or in Roman Law it refers to power over a person.
Infest: The meaning of just this word is to live in an unwanted degree, or a troublesome manner. To be troublesome. Or the Archaic use of the word is to harass.
So perhaps if "Trudy" was to remain consistent. She would have to come to the conclusion that if she wants to go back to the root meanings of words, and break them apart, then, Bentley is a troublemaker, that likes to harrass people by kicking and punching them. But let’s not split hairs, or well in this case English and Hebrew words.
HEALING SICK
First off, Satan has the power to do marvelous things as well. So this alone is absolutely no proof of validity from God. But if anyone has studied the nature of God. I’m sure we will come to the conclusion that during the day of Pentecost and the saving of the people in the New Testament, there was no hitting people’s legs, kicking people’s faces, and jumping on people. This is blasphemy.
The healing that is performed by Mr. Bentley, is not at all scriptural. He claims in another video that all they show is him kneeing people etc. But when he admits it in one of his long discussions to his crowd, it’s hard to deny. The question has to be asked….how many people were healed in such a way in the New Testament?
RAISING DEAD
Below is one of the videos of being Raised from the Dead. Notice though that the claims if looked at closely have nothing to do for the glory of God, but for the glory of Bentley and the church in Florida. The people had to have Godtv on and Bentley’s show. It had to be Bentley’s association with it for this "miracle" to happen. Not to mention that in other videos by Bentley where he knees a guy to heal him, the healing is associated as well with Bentley’s "Holy Knees". I find this incredible in that the Apostles gave all credit to God, and even as the Apostle Peter, a man used greatly by God neared death, he didn’t even feel worthy enough to face death the same way that his Saviour did.
TALKING TO ANGELS
Mr. Bentley is very big into the idea that there are regional Angels over certain places, and is very definite on the idea that we have Guardian Angels. When one claims we have Guardian Angels what they are actually doing is adding to scripture.
Angels are not our servants. The are servants of God. Scripture does not speak about us having our personal angels, but instead speaks that they will help the elect if needed. The idea of personal spirits that follow people around, and such is found in false groups such as extreme charismatic groups like Mr. Bentley is apart of. With that said, the reader can come to his or her own conclusion what these "Spirits" are.
CONCLUSION
Followers of Mr. Bentley and others like him, have little regard to what scripture actually says. They take a couple verses twist them out of context and runs with it. They eventually base their evidence solely on emotionalism. Rightly dividing scripture and testing everything is no longer part of their thoughts. Any truth or glory to God has been replaced with falsehoods and blasphemy.
Act 2:17 "’And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;
Mr. Bentley in some of his videos refers to this verse. There are a couple of things though that should be noticed here. In Acts chapter 2 there is a great deal of excitement going on. There are skeptics there and Peter stands up and begins to speak: "But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel…." (v.16)
Peter explained what was going on, and quotes Joel. The 17th verse is not for today but was speaking to explain the times then. For we know that Paul predicts the end of certain things in 1 Corinthians 13:8, and by the time we get to the book of Ephesians, the gift of speaking in tongues etc, is no longer listed by God. Parts of the passage though have yet to take place. Some will not be revealed until the revelation of the Anti-Christ.
Much more could be said on this topic, but this is not the article to do so. The point is to show you who Mr. Bentley is, and to show that the characteristics displayed by him is not found in scripture. It has nothing to do with his tattoos or piercing. But how he handles scripture, something he is fatally failing in.
Also to wrap up, revivals of today are not the effective revivals of the past. True revivals are characterized by humble men, honouring a Holy God, and evangelism at the forefront.
